Why misogyny is a mental illness ° warum Frauenfeindlichkeit eine Geisteskrankheit ist

"Weißt du, warum Frauenfeindlichkeit eine Geisteskrankheit ist? Weil, wenn du genau das hasst, 

was du begehrst, ist das verdammt angespannt!" Hannah Gadsby (aus ihrer Show Nanette) 

Frauen eines gewissen Alters und ihre Sexualität sind ein Thema, das kaum jemand ansprechen 

möchte. Die amerikanische Netflix-Serie Grace und Frankie tut es. Sie machen sich sogar über 

Werbung lustig, wenn ein Vibrator für die alternde Frau mit stark photogeshoppten Porträts der 

beiden Protagonistinnen (gespielt von Jane Fonda und Lily Tomlin) beworben wird, die das 

handgelenkschonende Sexspielzeug "Vybrant" erfunden haben. Die Wahrnehmung der Männerwelt 

von der Sexualität einer Frau über 45 ist nicht gut, Vielleicht ist ihre Sehstärke von Potenzneid 

beeinträchtigt. Während Männer in ihren 40ern und 50ern mit der Abnahme ihrer Potenz 

konfrontiert sind, kann die sexuelle Potenz einer Frau mit zunehmendem Alter und Erfahrung 

immer größer werden. Natürlich nicht, wenn du dem Hype glaubst und denkst, dass es aus und du fertig bist, wenn 

die Männer dir nicht mehr auf der Straße hinterherschauen.

Die Ansicht der Männer - und das ist die Ansicht, die unsere Gesellschaft bis heute vertritt -, dass 

eine Frau jenseits des gebärfähigen Alters kaum einen Platz in der Gesellschaft verdient hat. Menschen 

in einem bestimmten Alter werden ohnehin aufgrund ihres geringeren Beitrags zum Arbeitsmarkt

ausgegrenzt, aber im Fall einer Frau beginnt diese Ausgrenzung bereits in den Wechseljahren, also 

zwischen 45 und 55 Jahren - es sei denn, sie hat eine Machtposition erreicht, was selten genug ist. 

Sie ist das zweite Geschlecht (Simone de Beauvoir) für den ersten Teil ihres Lebens, jetzt wird sie 

ein Unsichtbares: eine Frau, die sich nicht fortpflanzen kann, erhält als Konsequenz die Leugnung 

ihrer Sexualität, ihres Wesens in der öffentlichen Meinung. Dies ist ein übles Doppelkonstrukt: 

Wenn sie jung und attraktiv ist, wird sie als inkompetent, als sexuelle Beute angesehen und nicht 

ernst genommen, wenn sie nicht jung und attraktiv ist,sieht man sie überhaupt nicht mehr. 

Das sexualisierte Bild der Frau in der Werbung und in der Filmindustrie hat zwei Schattenseiten.

Ich wünschte, ich würde Witze machen. Die Frau kann der schlimmste Feind einer Frau sein, wenn sie 

die Perspektive eines Mannes annimmt. Wenn wir wirklich etwas über die Erfahrung einer älteren Frau 

wissen wollen, müssen wir uns in einen matriarchalen und sexpositiven Raum begeben. Wo ist die Welt 

existiert so etwas? Wenn nicht, wird die soziologische Analyse bezüglich älterer Frauen und ihres 

Sexuallebens nur die mysogynistische Sichtweise einer patriarchalischen Gesellschaft, ihrer Wahrnehmung 

und ihrer Annahmen widerspiegeln, und ein Leben, die gemäß diesen Annahmen gelebt wird.

Women of a certain age and their sexuality are a topic that hardly anyone wants to address. The American netflix series Grace and Frankie does. They even take the piss out of advertising and their ageist take on women when a vibrator for the ageing female is being advertized with heavily photoshopped portraits of the two protagonists (played by Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin) who invented the sex toy "Vybrant" that is kind to their hurting joints. Sex for a female at over 45: its perception in a man's world is not good, the vision might be impaired by potency envy. While men are confronted with a diminishing sexual prowess while in their 40 and 50es, the sexual potency of a woman can be ever increasing with age and experience. Of course not if you believe the hype and think that its over and you're done with once the men do not leer at you any more.

Taking the view of man - and thats the view our society takes so far -, a woman beyond child bearing age hardly deserves a place in society. People over a certain age anyway are marginalized due to their lesser contribution to the work market, but in case of a woman, that starts at menopause, say between 45 and 55 - unless she has made it to a power position, which is rare enough. The second sex for the first part of her life, now she becomes an invisible: when a woman who cannot procreate, as a consequence the denial of their sexuality, of her very being in the public view. This is a concumdrum:  if they are young and attractive, they are seen as prey, incompetent, and not taken seriously, if they are not young and attractive, they are not seen at all. Sexualizing women in advertizing and the film industry has two down sides.

I wish I was joking. Woman can be a woman's worst enemy if she takes on a man's perspective.

If we really want to know about an older woman's experience we have to immerse ourselves into a matriarchal and sex-positive space. Where is the world does such a thing exist?

If not, the sociological analysis regarding older women and their sex-lives will only mirror the mysogynist view of a patriarchal society, of perception and assumptions, and lives lived according to those assumptions.
